The Leukocyte-Increasing Effect of the Saline Extracts Prepared from the Various Tissues of the Rabbits Administered with Prednisolone

Abstract
|
|
|
The author observed, using rabbits, the leukocyte-increasirng effect of the saline extracts prepared from the liver, spleen, kidney or bone marrow tissues of the rabbits with or without a single intravenous dose of 5mg. of prednisolone per kg. body weight.
The results thus obtained were as follows:
1. The pseudoeosinophil-increasing effect of the extracts prepared from the liver and spleen tissue obtained at 7 and 9 hours following the administration of prednisolone was more marked than that of the extracts from the liver and spleen tissues at other hours following the administration of the drug and extracts from the similar tissues of normal rabbits.
2. The pseudoeosinophil-increasing effect of the extract prepared from the kidney tissue obtained at 9 hours following the administration of prednisolone was more marked than that of the extracts prepared from kidney tissues at other hours following the administration of the drug and the extract prepared from similar tissue of normal rabbits.
3. The pseudoeosinophil-increasing effect of the extract prepared from the bone marrow tissue of the rabbits at any time following the administration of prednisolone was almost equal to that of the extract prepared from the similar tissue of normal rabbits.
4. The extracts prepared from the liver and spleen tissues of the rabbits obtained at 7,9 and 24 hours
following the admintstration of prednisolo=te showed lymphocyte-increasing effect, but the extract prepared from the similar tissues at other hours following the administration of prednisolone and the extracts prepared from the similar tissues of the normal rabbits did not show lymphocyte-increasing effect.
